- About
Each year, thousands of young people leave the care system without the support networks most of us rely on. They face multiple and overlapping challenges, including:
- Housing instability
- Barriers to employment and education
- Poor mental health outcomes
- Limited life skills and confidence
Without support, these young people are at high risk of long-term disadvantage.
The Youth Futures Care Leavers Programme provides flexible, multi-year funding to grassroots organisations supporting young people aged 16–25. The programme is part of a wider £7 million national UK Community Foundation network initiative, delivered through Community Foundations and led by UK Community Foundations.
Its distinctive feature is a whole-person approach, recognising that care leavers’ needs cannot be addressed in isolation.
With your help, The London Community Foundation is looking to raise at least £185,000 to expand the Care Leavers Programme until 2028. This includes £68,000 in match funding, generously provided by the Henry Smith Foundation.
